Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke is firmly within his political camp, while declaring that both politicians remain aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Wike made the statement on Friday while speaking with journalists in Abuja, a day after Adeleke visited him following his successful defence of his governorship seat in the August 15, 2026 Osun election.
The minister’s remarks come amid growing political calculations surrounding Adeleke, particularly after the governor held separate meetings with Tinubu and Wike in Abuja following his re-election.
Adeleke had earlier visited President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, where he presented his Certificate of Return and expressed appreciation for what he described as the President’s role in ensuring a free and fair electoral process in Osun.
He subsequently met Wike and also presented the certificate to the FCT minister.
Speaking about the governor’s recent movements, Wike said Adeleke’s political position was now clear.
“Adeleke belongs to us, and we all belong to Mr President.”
Wike also dismissed suggestions from some members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that the party or its members played a major role in Adeleke’s electoral victory.
According to him, those claiming credit for the governor’s victory were attempting to benefit from a political success they did not create.
The FCT minister argued that Adeleke’s meetings with him and Tinubu demonstrated where the Osun governor’s political allegiance currently lies.
“So, Adeleke is fully supporting Mr President,” Wike said.
Wike predicts larger Tinubu alliance
Beyond Adeleke’s political alignment, Wike predicted that the political movement supporting President Tinubu would expand significantly in the coming weeks.
He described the expected alliance as a “Rainbow Coalition”, suggesting that additional politicians and political groups could join the bloc ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The former Rivers State governor also rejected the suggestion that the 2027 presidential contest had already been decided, despite expressing confidence in the political realignments taking place around Tinubu.
His comments come at a time when opposition parties and political groups are also intensifying efforts to build alliances ahead of the presidential election.
Adeleke’s Osun victory
Adeleke secured re-election in the August 15 governorship election with 511,067 votes, defeating the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who recorded 444,815 votes.
African Democratic Congress candidate Najeem Salaam finished third with 17,180 votes. Adeleke won in 19 of Osun State’s 30 local government areas.
The governor’s post-election meetings have consequently attracted significant political attention, particularly because of his interactions with figures on different sides of Nigeria’s emerging 2027 political landscape.
Wike’s latest remarks have now added another dimension to those discussions, with the FCT minister openly claiming Adeleke as part of his political camp and projecting a broader alliance around Tinubu.
