A 30-year-old Nigerian man, Olukanyinsola Odebode, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison in the United Kingdom after being convicted of rape and sexual assault offences.
Odebode was convicted at Swansea Crown Court of one count of rape and two counts of assault by penetration following offences committed between June 2024 and September 2025.
The court heard that he sexually assaulted and raped one woman in the Gwent Police area before being arrested and released on bail.
While on bail, he went on to sexually assault another woman in the Dyfed-Powys Police area.
Prosecutor Mark Wyeth KC told the court that Odebode posed a significant danger to women.
A Probation Service assessment reportedly concluded that he presented a high risk of causing serious harm, citing his lack of insight into the offences and his rejection of the jury’s findings.
The case involved offences across two police jurisdictions in Wales and resulted in an extended prison sentence.
The sentencing brings the criminal proceedings to a significant stage after a jury found Odebode guilty of the offences.
