New Real Madrid forward Yan Diomande has described his move to the Spanish giants as the fulfilment of a childhood dream, insisting that joining the club represents an extraordinary moment in his young career.
The 19-year-old Côte d’Ivoire international completed his move from RB Leipzig earlier this month after Real Madrid reached an agreement with the German club. He has signed a seven-year contract running until June 2033.
Speaking to Real Madrid TV, Diomande said he was proud and happy to join the club, describing Madrid as “the biggest club in the world.” He added that playing for the Spanish giants had been a dream since childhood.
“When Madrid calls you, you can’t say no,” the forward said, explaining why he chose to join the club.
Diomande also acknowledged the higher demands that come with playing for Real Madrid, saying players have to work harder to reach the highest level at a club where expectations are enormous.
His transfer has generated significant attention, with reports putting the deal at around €135 million, potentially making him the most expensive African player in football history.
The young forward has already begun life under new Real Madrid manager José Mourinho, with the club expecting him to develop into one of the leading attacking players of the next generation.
Diomande, meanwhile, has set his sights even higher, saying he wants to become one of the best players in the world and help Madrid win major honours.
