Peter Obi Media Reach has rejected Datti Baba-Ahmed’s criticism of Obi’s capacity to transform Nigeria, pointing to his record in public office.
The Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) has pushed back against recent comments by former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed questioning whether Peter Obi can rescue Nigeria.
In a statement, the group argued that Obi’s record in public office provides evidence of his ability to address some of Nigeria’s longstanding challenges.
POMR Defends Obi
The organisation said Obi’s previous experience in government should be considered when assessing his capacity to lead Nigeria.
The response followed Baba-Ahmed’s recent comments suggesting that none of the politicians currently challenging President Bola Tinubu, including Obi, could bring the desired transformation to the country.
Obi’s Anambra Record
Obi served as governor of Anambra State before becoming a presidential candidate.
In his own response to the criticism, Obi pointed to his record in Anambra and said he could replicate what he described as improvements achieved during his tenure at the national level.
He has also outlined plans focused on reducing government waste, strengthening production and tackling corruption.

The exchange highlights the continuing political differences within Nigeria’s opposition camp.
With several opposition candidates preparing for 2027, debates over experience, performance and political credibility are likely to become increasingly prominent as campaigns intensify.
