The All Progressives Congress in Ebonyi State has set an ambitious target of winning every elective position in the state in the 2027 general elections.

The declaration was made on Sunday as APC leaders and candidates gathered at the party secretariat in Abakaliki to harmonise their strategies ahead of the polls.

The meeting was led by the state chairman, Stanley Okoro Emegha, and attended by members of the National Assembly, state lawmakers, local government chairmen, APC local government chairmen and candidates preparing to contest the 2027 elections.

The party leadership urged stakeholders across Ebonyi’s three senatorial districts and its federal and state constituencies to close ranks and work towards a comprehensive electoral victory.

The development is consistent with earlier declarations by the Ebonyi APC that it intends to win all elective positions in 2027.

‘No seat for the opposition’

Emegha reportedly challenged party stakeholders to ensure that no elective position is surrendered to the opposition.

The strategy reflects the APC’s dominant position in Ebonyi politics in recent election cycles and the party’s desire to consolidate its control of the state.

Rather than concentrating exclusively on the governorship or National Assembly races, the party is seeking victories across the entire electoral structure.

That would include senatorial seats, House of Representatives constituencies and the Ebonyi State House of Assembly.

Party unity at the centre of strategy

The state chairman’s appeal for unity highlights one of the principal challenges facing political parties during election campaigns: managing internal competition.

With multiple aspirants and candidates seeking positions under the same party platform, disagreements over nominations, campaign resources and political influence can create divisions that benefit opponents.

The APC leadership is therefore seeking to maintain cohesion among its various structures before campaigning reaches its peak.

The call also comes after previous warnings by Emegha against factionalisation and personal interests within the party.

Building from local structures

The presence of local government chairmen, party executives and legislative candidates at the meeting underscores the APC’s emphasis on grassroots mobilisation.

Election victories in Nigeria depend heavily on local political structures capable of identifying supporters, coordinating campaigns and ensuring voter mobilisation.

The Ebonyi APC’s strategy appears designed to establish a coordinated campaign structure stretching from the state leadership down to local government and constituency levels.

A competitive 2027 landscape

The party’s confidence comes as opposition parties across Nigeria also strengthen their structures ahead of 2027.

The PDP and other opposition platforms will be seeking to regain political ground in states where the APC has established significant influence.

The coming campaign will therefore test whether the APC’s organisational advantage can be translated into another sweeping electoral performance.

Political declarations of total victory are common ahead of elections, but ultimately the party’s success will be determined by voters and the conduct of the polls.

For now, Ebonyi APC is making clear that its objective is not merely to retain existing seats but to seek control of every elective position available in the state.
