Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy has publicly distanced himself from a meme coin circulating online under his name, labeling the project as fraudulent and warning fans not to fall for it.
The cryptocurrency, which gained traction on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), falsely implied endorsement by the Afrobeats star. In response, Burna Boy took to Instagram to issue a firm denial.
“I don’t do any internet coin business,” he wrote in an Instagram Story. “I see it as fraud and I have no interest in any of that. So if you see anyone using my name for such, please disregard or report them.”
The singer emphasized that he has no involvement in cryptocurrency ventures and urged his followers to report anyone falsely associating his brand with such digital assets.
The warning comes amid a wave of celebrity-linked meme coins that have flooded the internet, often without the knowledge or approval of the public figures involved. Burna Boy joins a growing list of celebrities who have taken a stand against unauthorized use of their names in crypto-related schemes.
