Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has expressed confidence that Nigerians will re-elect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the January 16, 2027 presidential election, citing the administration’s economic reforms and infrastructure projects as reasons for his support.

Tompolo, founder of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, made the declaration in Kano on Sunday, September 27, through Emomotimi Guwor, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria.

According to the statement reported by news organisations, Tompolo expressed confidence that Tinubu would receive substantial support across the country and said his movement intended to establish grassroots structures in northern and southern states.

Economic Reforms and Infrastructure Cited

Tompolo attributed his confidence in Tinubu’s re-election prospects to what he described as bold economic reforms and ongoing infrastructure development.

Among the initiatives he cited were the removal of the petrol subsidy, railway projects and the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano gas pipeline project.

He argued that these measures demonstrated the administration’s willingness to take difficult policy decisions and pursue projects that could contribute to national development.

His comments reflect the position of a political support movement rather than an independent measurement of voter opinion.

The economic effects of the administration’s reforms, including changes in fuel prices and household expenditure, remain subjects of public debate. Assessing their overall impact requires consideration of factors such as inflation, employment, public revenue, transport costs and the performance of individual sectors.

Movement Plans Door-to-Door Campaign

Tompolo said the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement would intensify efforts to communicate the administration’s policies directly to households.

The organisation intends to establish coordinators and ambassadors at the polling-unit level and expand its presence across states in both the North and South.

The proposed strategy involves direct engagement with residents, community-level mobilisation and efforts to explain the government’s programmes.

Grassroots mobilisation is a familiar feature of Nigerian election campaigns, allowing political organisations to build local networks and communicate messages beyond major rallies and media appearances.

The movement’s planned expansion suggests that its organisers intend to make direct voter engagement a central part of their campaign activities.

Political Support Ahead of 2027

Tompolo’s declaration comes as political organisations and prominent figures continue to announce their positions ahead of the next presidential election.

The 2027 campaign environment is expected to involve debates over the economy, security, infrastructure, public services and the consequences of major government policies.

Tompolo’s statement represents a clear expression of support for Tinubu. His confidence about the eventual result, however, should not be treated as a verified prediction of the election outcome.

The election will be determined by voters through the established electoral process.

For the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, the immediate task is to translate its stated support into an organised national network capable of engaging voters before election day.
