Contact Support

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has congratulated residents of the territory on Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, urging them to support government reforms and sustain efforts to develop Abuja and surrounding communities.

In his anniversary message, Wike described the occasion as an opportunity to reflect on Nigeria’s national journey, acknowledge its challenges and renew efforts towards sustainable growth.

He said the anniversary theme, “From Reforms to Stability: Consolidating Nigeria’s Renewed Hope for Shared Prosperity,” reflected the need to translate policy changes into improvements in citizens’ lives.

Wike Praises Tinubu Administration

The FCT minister expressed confidence in the country’s future and praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for what he described as development achievements in the capital territory.

“We acknowledge the challenges that have faced our nation in the past 66 years, but also see a great opportunity for renewal and sustainable growth,” Wike said in the statement supplied for this report.

He added that he remained optimistic about the country’s future and credited the President with prioritising citizens’ welfare and development in the FCT.

The remarks form part of the administration’s anniversary messaging as Nigeria reflects on 66 years of independence.

Development and Residents’ Expectations

The FCT continues to face demands for infrastructure development, effective public services, improved transportation and better access to essential facilities across Abuja and satellite communities.

For residents, the significance of government development programmes depends on their implementation and the extent to which they improve daily life.

Wike’s appeal for public support therefore comes against the wider backdrop of national discussions about the cost of living, public infrastructure and the delivery of government services.
