Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has signed the Osun State Park Management Bill into law, introducing a new regulatory framework for the management of motor parks and transport operations across the state.

Adeleke signed the legislation on Monday at the Government House in Osogbo, shortly after the Osun State House of Assembly passed the bill.

The governor described the law as a major step towards resolving longstanding challenges within the state’s transport park system and modernising the sector.

According to the state government, the legislation is intended to create a more organised and efficient park management system while improving the experience of commuters and transport operators.

Adeleke commended Speaker Adewale Egbedun and members of the House of Assembly for their role in passing the legislation.

He said implementation would commence immediately and that the government would seek to accommodate the interests of stakeholders within the new framework.

The Speaker said the law was designed to address key concerns surrounding the management of motor parks and improve security and accountability in the sector.

The new legislation comes amid longstanding disputes and competing interests surrounding transport unions and motor park administration in Osun.

The state government says the new system will provide a clearer regulatory structure for transport operations and help address recurring conflicts within the sector.
