The Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has denied reports that he prayed for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 presidential election.

Dachomo, who is currently in Israel on what he described as his first International Christian Advocacy Tour, said his visit was focused on drawing global attention to the plight of Christians in Plateau State.

The cleric issued the clarification in a social media post on Monday night following reports that he had prayed for the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket and expressed support for the party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Dachomo said his prayers in Israel were for Nigeria, its leaders and the people, but rejected the interpretation that he was endorsing Tinubu and Shettima for the 2027 election.

His clarification comes days after reports of his visit to Israel said he had prayed for President Tinubu and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his advocacy tour.

Dachomo has repeatedly spoken about insecurity and killings in Plateau State. He said his current mission was intended to draw the attention of international leaders and Christian organisations to the situation in the state.

The cleric’s latest statement therefore marks a clear distinction between praying for Nigeria and its leaders and endorsing a particular presidential ticket.
