Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has said he would take full responsibility for his administration if elected president in the 2027 general elections.

Obi made the comment while discussing the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari and what he described as its shortcomings in tackling corruption and ensuring effective control of government.

The former Anambra State governor argued that the president must maintain firm oversight of government and ensure that those appointed to positions of authority operate in line with the administration’s objectives.

Obi said his approach would be different if elected, stressing that he would take direct responsibility for the decisions and performance of his government.

His comments form part of his broader argument that Nigeria requires stronger institutional accountability and more effective leadership ahead of the 2027 election.

The NDC candidate is expected to face competition from President Bola Tinubu and other opposition candidates as political parties continue preparations for the presidential contest.
