Dr Betta Edu, Co-Chair of the Directorate of Women Mobilisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu’s second term would usher in an era of prosperity for Nigerians.
Edu said the country had moved beyond the most difficult phase of the administration’s economic reforms and was approaching a period of improved economic conditions.
She made the remarks in Kaduna on Thursday while leading a delegation of the campaign council’s Women Mobilisation Directorate on a courtesy visit to the state’s Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe.
Balarabe also chairs the Local Organising Committee responsible for the APC presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna State.
Edu’s comments form part of the ruling party’s efforts to promote Tinubu’s economic agenda and build support for his re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general election.
She maintained that the administration’s reforms had laid the groundwork for future economic progress, expressing optimism that Nigerians would begin to experience greater prosperity as the policies continued.
Her position reflects the APC campaign council’s broader argument that the current economic difficulties should be assessed alongside the administration’s stated objectives of stabilising public finances and improving the country’s economic outlook.
However, the expectation of prosperity under a second Tinubu administration remains a political projection rather than a guaranteed outcome.
Nigerians continue to assess the impact of the government’s economic policies through their experiences with food prices, transportation costs, employment opportunities, household incomes and access to essential services.
The extent to which the administration can translate its reform agenda into measurable improvements in living standards is therefore likely to remain an important issue in the run-up to the election.
Edu’s remarks also highlight the role of women-focused mobilisation in the APC’s campaign strategy, as political parties seek to expand their grassroots networks and communicate their policy positions to voters across the country.
With the 2027 election approaching, the ruling party is expected to intensify its efforts to defend its economic record and persuade Nigerians that its policies will produce more favourable outcomes in the coming years.
