Nollywood veteran Shaffy Bello has shared honest insights into her past romantic experiences and what she now values in a relationship. The actress, known for her elegance and commanding presence on screen, revealed that she once dated younger men, but says those days are firmly behind her.
Speaking during an episode of the Dear Ife series hosted by Ifedayo Agoro, Bello reflected on how her priorities have shifted over time. According to her, dating younger men was once enjoyable and fun, but no longer aligns with the kind of relationship she envisions for herself today.
She described that period in her life as a passing season—one that was exciting but temporary. “I’ve done it before,” she said. “At that time, I was having fun. But that season has ended. What I want now is marriage.”
While Bello acknowledged that she still attracts younger admirers, especially through direct messages on social media, she made it clear that such attention no longer holds the same appeal. “I’m over 50 and yes, young men do slide into my DMs. I accept it, I own it. But some of them have no manners. You’ll just get a ‘Hi dear’ and nothing more,” she said, laughing.
Despite the playful tone, Bello emphasized that she’s still open to love and companionship. However, her view on marriage has evolved. She no longer feels bound by society’s rigid expectations and instead chooses to embrace a more flexible and personal understanding of what a healthy partnership should look like.
“I don’t mind the idea of marriage at all,” she explained. “But I’ve come to see that many people are too fixed in their ideas about what marriage should be. I have a different perspective.”
Shaffy Bello’s reflections echo the sentiments of many modern women navigating love later in life—grounded in experience, personal growth, and a clearer understanding of their emotional needs.
