Several prominent figures in Nigeria’s music industry have come forward to seek support for gospel singer Bunmi Akinnaanu, widely known as Omije Ojumi, who is currently battling a debilitating leg condition. The illness has reportedly left the singer financially strained, prompting calls from her colleagues for urgent assistance.
The situation gained attention following Omije Ojumi’s visit to G.F. David Ministries in Ibadan, Oyo State, where she sought healing. Sources indicate that she has been moved between hospitals in search of treatment, highlighting the severity of her condition.
Lanre Alewilese, a fellow musician, took to Instagram to urge fans and colleagues from across musical genres—gospel, Juju, and Fuji alike—to contribute to her recovery. Sharing her account details, he appealed: “She truly needs your support now. Let us set religion aside and come together to save the life of sister Bunmi Akinnaanu, Omije Ojumi.”
Alewilese recounted his shock upon learning about her struggles, saying he had assumed God had already overseen her healing. “When my colleague Alayo informed me, I realized she has been transferred from one hospital to another,” he explained. “We must make the public aware and extend our help.”
Joining the call, other industry personalities including Yinka Alaseyori, Olabest, Alayo Melody, Akinade Olubukola, and actress Foluke Daramola have used their social media platforms to amplify the appeal, encouraging both prayers and financial support to assist Omije Ojumi during this challenging time.
