Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has issued a detailed public response following the release of fellow actor Baba Ijesha, using an Instagram post to welcome his freedom and describe him as “back and better.”
Fabiyi said he was relieved that the court discharged Baba Ijesha on some of the allegations brought against him. He reiterated his long-held position that the case involving a minor was, in his view, mishandled.
In the statement, Fabiyi made several new claims about the investigation. He alleged that individuals involved in the initial sting operation provided incorrect information about the girl’s age. He also accused some persons connected to the matter of unprofessional conduct, noting that the allegations he raised were his personal opinions and not findings upheld in court.
Fabiyi further claimed that the minor at the centre of the case suffered neglect during evidence gathering. He also criticised comedian Princess accusing her of contributing to emotional distress, while again clarifying that his remarks were not judicial conclusions.
The actor emphasised that his organisation does not condone any form of abuse and maintained that his advocacy has focused on ensuring fair investigation, due process and consistency in the application of justice.
Fabiyi concluded by restating his commitment to speaking out against what he termed “selective justice.”
