British media personality Piers Morgan has captured international attention after tweeting in Igbo while reaching out to American rapper Nicki Minaj to discuss her remarks on recent attacks targeting Christians in Nigeria.

In a tweet that quickly went viral, Morgan wrote: “Ọ dị m ezigbo mkpa! Anyị nwere ike ime ajụjụ ọnụ?”

(Translation: “It is very important to me! Can we do an interview?”)

The message was posted as a quote reply to Minaj’s earlier tweet, in which she referenced Morgan while highlighting concerns over U.S. involvement and the growing violence against Christian communities in Nigeria. Minaj had written: “And just like that, Piers has been given clearance to fly through Barb Airspace. The power of Nigeria. 🇳🇬 Naija Barbz, keep an eye on him…”

Morgan’s choice to communicate in Igbo, one of Nigeria’s major languages, sparked widespread reactions across social media, with many Nigerians expressing surprise and amusement at the broadcaster’s effort to engage in the local language.

The exchange comes amid increased global scrutiny of targeted attacks on Christian communities in Nigeria, an issue that has recently attracted attention from celebrities and public figures worldwide.
