Several people are feared dead following an explosion caused by a suspected suicide bomber at a mosque in Gamboru Main Market, Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, on Tuesday, December 24.

Reports indicate that the blast occurred at about 6:00 p.m. while Muslim worshippers were observing the Maghrib prayers.

The mosque is usually crowded, as it serves traders and residents who frequent the Gamboru market on a daily basis.

As of the time of filing this report, the Borno State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
