Controversial Nigerian entertainer, Uche Maduagwu, has issued a public apology to award-winning singer Davido and his wife, Chioma Adeleke, admitting that his online attacks against the couple were financially motivated.

Maduagwu made the revelation in a video posted on his Instagram page on Thursday, where he expressed remorse for repeatedly ridiculing the celebrity couple on social media.

According to him, he received about ₦2.5 million to deliberately troll Davido and his family, adding that he was not alone in the act. The entertainer claimed that at least four other Nigerian influencers were allegedly paid to carry out similar online attacks.

“I was paid to ridicule your wife and your family. I’m not the only one — we were about five influencers that were paid,” he said. “Davido has done nothing wrong. I’m asking those who collected money to criticise him to come out and return it.”

Maduagwu pleaded for forgiveness, stating that he regretted his actions and urging others involved to take responsibility.

In an emotional caption accompanying the video, he wrote that he was in tears and appealed to fans to help him seek Davido’s forgiveness, insisting that many negative narratives about the singer online were sponsored.

The apology has since sparked widespread reactions across social media platforms, with fans and observers debating the influence of paid online criticism in Nigeria’s entertainment space.
