Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria – A man identified as Ojo Deji was stabbed to death on Saturday during a violent altercation between two groups fighting over money distributed by a philanthropist in the Atikankan area of Ado-Ekiti.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred when a visitor came to the neighborhood to give alms to residents. Two rival groups of youths reportedly approached the benefactor for money, leading to a dispute that turned deadly.

Ekiti State Police Command spokesperson SP Abutu Sunday confirmed that two suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing, while others remain at large.

“The deceased was stabbed during the altercation and later died while receiving medical treatment,” Sunday said. “We have deployed officers to the area to maintain peace and prevent further violence.”

Police Commissioner Joseph Eribo has ordered a full investigation into the incident and assured the public that justice would be served. Authorities are working to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the fatal stabbing.

The incident has raised concerns about security in the area, with residents calling for increased police presence to prevent similar outbreaks of violence.

Investigations into the case are ongoing.
