Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been arraigned before the Federal High Court sitting in Ota, Ogun State, over multiple criminal allegations, including assault and theft.

Portable was brought before the court on Monday to face a nine-count charge bordering on assault, theft, causing grievous harm, and resisting lawful arrest. The charges were confirmed by the Ogun State Police Command through its spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi.

The arraignment followed a viral video that circulated on social media on Sunday showing the singer in police custody. The arrest was reportedly linked to a complaint filed by his estranged partner, actress and skit maker Ashabi Simple.

According to the prosecution, Portable allegedly assaulted Ashabi and several others, including police officers, during an incident at his bar located in Iyana Ilogbo on New Year’s Day. The charge sheet listed additional alleged victims as Ileyemi Damilola, Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi, and Ebuka Odah.

The singer is also accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300 valued at N12 million, reportedly belonging to Ileyemi Damilola and purchased from Wally Dex Auto.

Police further alleged that Portable obstructed and assaulted a female police inspector, Ogungbe Olayemi, while she was carrying out her official duties.

During proceedings, two siblings of Ashabi Simple reportedly testified as witnesses to the alleged assault, although Ashabi herself was not present in court.

The presiding judge declined to grant Portable bail, citing the absence of the allegedly assaulted police officer in court. The judge ruled that bail consideration would only proceed once the officer appears to give testimony.

Portable was consequently remanded in custody, with the court adjourning the matter and fixing January 19, 2026, for a fresh bail hearing.
