Plans for the burial of late gospel musician Omije Ojumi have been suspended, organisers announced on Saturday, citing unresolved family-related issues.

The development was disclosed by fellow gospel artiste Lanre Alewilese via a post on Instagram. Alewilese, who spoke on behalf of the burial planning committee, said the decision was reached after challenges emerged within the deceased singer’s family, making it impossible to proceed as scheduled.

According to him, the committee regretted the inconvenience the sudden cancellation may cause to fans, colleagues, and well-wishers who had already begun making arrangements to attend the ceremony.

“This is to inform the general public that all burial plans for our late sister and colleague have been cancelled due to issues arising within her family,” Alewilese stated, adding that further updates would be communicated when the situation is resolved.

It will be recalled that the organising committee had earlier announced that Omije Ojumi would be laid to rest on Wednesday, January 20, 2026. However, the burial has now been put on hold indefinitely pending a resolution of the reported family crisis.
