Nigerian music star Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has publicly responded to remarks made by Afrobeat singer and activist Seun Kuti, escalating a heated exchange that has drawn widespread attention on social media.
Seun Kuti, son of late Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti, had repeatedly criticised Wizkid and his fan base during recent livestream sessions, taking aim at the Grammy-winning singer on multiple occasions.
After days of silence, Wizkid broke his silence late Monday, reacting strongly to the comments on his verified Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) accounts.
In a post shared on his Instagram story, Wizkid wrote in Pidgin English: “I big pass your papa!! Wetin you don do? I’m Big Wiz everyday,” a statement that immediately went viral and sparked intense reactions online.
He followed up with a more direct message on X, appearing to downplay the controversy while taking a swipe at Seun Kuti. “Ok everybody better pass Wizkid! Can we all sleep now? Fela fight for freedom, this fool dey fight FC! Oloshi Omo ale!” he posted.
The exchange has since triggered mixed reactions across social media platforms, with fans and commentators divided over the comments made by both artists. While some users criticised Wizkid’s choice of words, others viewed the response as a direct rebuttal to what they described as repeated provocation from Seun Kuti.
As of the time of filing this report, Seun Kuti has not issued a formal response to Wizkid’s latest remarks.
