The Federal Government has congratulated Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Toyin Abraham, following the box office success of her latest movie, Oversabi Aunty, which has grossed ₦1 billion in Nigerian cinemas.

The film, which was released nationwide on December 19, 2025, reached the ₦1 billion mark on Monday, according to industry figures.

Reacting to the milestone, the Federal Government, through the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC), described the achievement as a significant boost to Nigeria’s creative economy.

In a statement issued by the Managing Director of the Corporation, Ali Nuhu, the NFC said the feat places Abraham among a select group of filmmakers whose productions have combined cultural relevance with strong commercial performance.

“This achievement places Ms. Abraham in the prestigious league of filmmakers whose works have not only resonated culturally with audiences but have also demonstrated strong commercial viability in an increasingly competitive cinema market,” the statement read.

The Corporation noted that Oversabi Aunty exemplifies the potential of locally driven storytelling when supported by quality production and effective marketing strategies.

“Oversabi Aunty is a clear example of how locally rooted stories, when properly produced and strategically marketed, can achieve extraordinary reach and impact. The film’s success reflects a deep understanding of the Nigerian audience, a strong distribution framework, and the growing cinema-going culture across the country,” the NFC added.

Toyin Abraham also expressed gratitude to her fans and supporters, taking to Instagram to thank Nigerians and moviegoers nationwide for their overwhelming support, which she described as instrumental to the film’s success.
