Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has said she is willing to work with any political party committed to Nigeria’s development, following backlash over her promotional video for the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
The controversy began after FAAN shared a video on X in which the actress praised improvements at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. Ojo also posted the clip on her social media page, expressing pride in what she described as positive changes at the facility.
The video triggered mixed reactions online, with some critics pointing to her past political stance. Ojo was known to have supported Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election and had been critical of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Amid the criticism, FAAN’s Managing Director, Olubunmi Kuku, dismissed claims that the actress had been awarded a contract or appointed as an ambassador for the agency.
Responding to the backlash, Ojo maintained that her actions were driven by patriotism rather than politics. She stated that she was not paid for the video and described it as a goodwill gesture to promote national progress.
“I’m Nigerian. And I’m a voice. When I see progress… I shout it from the rooftops, not because I am being paid, not because I am political, but because I want good for my country,” she wrote on Instagram.
The actress added that she remains open to collaborating with any political party focused on improving the country, stressing that her support is not tied to any specific agenda.
The development comes amid reports of increased political engagement involving celebrities and influencers, including initiatives linked to Seyi Tinubu, son of the President.
Ojo’s promotional video surfaced months after she reportedly held a private meeting with Seyi Tinubu in Lagos.
