Questions remain over Reno Omokri’s deployment to Mexico as the Federal Government advances the posting of newly appointed ambassadors and high commissioners.

The status of Reno Omokri as Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to Mexico remains unclear despite recent progress announced by the Federal Government regarding the deployment of newly appointed ambassadors and high commissioners.

Omokri was previously named among ambassadorial nominees and reported to have been designated for Mexico. However, questions have persisted regarding when he will formally assume duties in the country.

There has been no official confirmation from either the Nigerian government or Mexican authorities indicating that his nomination has been rejected. Diplomatic procedures require host-country approval before ambassadors can officially take up their assignments.

The uncertainty surrounding Omokri’s posting comes as the Federal Government continues efforts to complete the deployment of its diplomatic representatives abroad.

Speaking on a television programme, Omokri dismissed claims that Mexico had rejected him, stating that diplomatic processes were still ongoing and attributing delays to circumstances related to activities surrounding the ongoing World Cup being co-hosted by Mexico and the United States.

For now, Omokri’s ambassadorial status remains unresolved publicly, with no official announcement confirming a final outcome regarding his deployment to Mexico.
