American congressman sparks global debate after calling for aggressive action over attacks on Christians in Nigeria.

Fresh international attention has been drawn to Nigeria’s worsening insecurity after American lawmaker Riley Moore urged Donald Trump to take “forceful action” in defence of Christians facing attacks in Nigeria.

Moore reportedly expressed deep concern over the killings and abductions affecting Christian communities across parts of the country, insisting that the international community can no longer remain silent. His remarks have sparked intense debate both in Nigeria and abroad.

The US congressman described Nigerian Christians as “innocent brothers and sisters in Christ,” calling for stronger diplomatic and strategic measures against extremist violence. The comments come amid renewed global scrutiny over insecurity, banditry and terrorist attacks in parts of northern Nigeria.

Back home, reactions have remained divided. While some Nigerians welcomed the international attention, others warned against foreign political interference in Nigeria’s internal security affairs. Several analysts also cautioned against framing the country’s complex insecurity problem strictly along religious lines.

The latest comments further place pressure on the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as concerns continue to mount over rising attacks, kidnappings and killings in several regions of the country.
