President Bola Tinubu says tax compliance and payment of statutory charges remain necessary for infrastructure development in the FCT.

President Bola Tinubu has called on residents and business owners in the Federal Capital Territory to fulfil their tax obligations and pay ground rents as part of efforts to support infrastructural development across Abuja.

The President made the remarks on Wednesday while speaking during the commissioning of infrastructure projects in the FCT. He stressed that government revenue generated through taxes and statutory payments remains essential for sustaining public services and developmental projects.

Tinubu urged residents to comply with civic responsibilities, including payment of land charges and other approved levies, noting that such contributions enable authorities to provide roads, utilities, and other basic amenities within the territory.

The comments come amid ongoing efforts by the Federal Capital Territory Administration to enforce compliance on outstanding ground rents and related obligations within Abuja. The issue has continued to attract attention as authorities intensify revenue collection measures tied to infrastructure expansion and urban management.

Tinubu maintained that development within the capital city depends largely on the willingness of residents and businesses to meet their financial obligations to government.

The newly commissioned road project is expected to improve connectivity across several developing districts within the FCT.
