Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has dismissed reports suggesting he is planning to dump the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the speculation as false and misleading.
Governor Aiyedatiwa has reacted to reports linking him with a possible move to the ADC after photographs of him with ADC chieftain and former senator Ayo Akinyelure surfaced online following a church service at the Government House Chapel in Akure.
The photographs fueled speculation that the governor was considering leaving the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections. However, his camp has dismissed the claims, insisting there is no plan to defect from the ruling party.
Governor Reaffirms Loyalty to APC
According to aides to the governor, the meeting with Akinyelure was purely social and took place after a church service, stressing that it should not be interpreted as a political realignment.
The governor’s camp maintained that Aiyedatiwa remains a committed member of the APC and continues to support the party’s activities in Ondo State ahead of the 2027 elections.

Political observers had linked the photographs to ongoing political consultations and coalition talks ahead of the next general election.
