General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has described the rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers from Oyo State as a clear answer to prayers, saying God fulfilled a promise he revealed during the victims’ captivity. The cleric also commended security agencies for their role in bringing the victims home safely.
Pastor Enoch Adeboye has expressed gratitude to God following the successful rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing the development as proof that persistent prayers can produce extraordinary results.
The RCCG General Overseer said the rescue aligned with what he believed God had revealed to him shortly after the abduction, when he was praying over the victims’ safety.
Reacting to news of the victims’ freedom after nearly two months in captivity, Adeboye said, “God answered our prayers,” thanking God for preserving their lives.
The cleric also praised members of the Armed Forces, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies involved in the intelligence-led operation that secured the release of the pupils and teachers.
Weeks before the rescue, Adeboye disclosed that after intense prayers over the abduction, he believed God assured him that the children’s release would be “dramatic.”
The pupils and teachers were eventually rescued after spending about 56 days in captivity, with authorities confirming that several suspected kidnappers were arrested while others were neutralised during the operation.
Adeboye’s reaction has resonated with many Nigerians who followed the prolonged ordeal, with religious leaders, parents and education stakeholders describing the rescue as both a security success and a moment of thanksgiving. As investigations continue, attention has now shifted to the prosecution of suspects and the recovery of other victims still in captivity.
