Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, says Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara had no option but to return to the political family that brought him to power, adding that the reconciliation would strengthen support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has welcomed Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s return to his political camp, describing the development as the right decision after months of political tension between both leaders.
Speaking with journalists after inspecting ongoing infrastructure projects in Abuja, Wike said he had earlier predicted that Fubara would eventually return to the political family that produced him.
“He Had No Other Choice”
Wike said Fubara’s public declaration confirmed what he had stated during a previous media chat.
According to him:
“I said during my last media chat that he had no other choice but to return to the same political family that produced him. I have now been informed that he has made that declaration publicly, and we welcome him. Our doors are open. Everybody is welcome to work with us.”
‘There Is No Sin in Politics’
Responding to questions about whether Fubara had been forgiven, Wike dismissed the suggestion, insisting that reconciliation should not be viewed as wrongdoing.
He said politics is about correcting mistakes and moving forward.
“There is no sin in politics. If someone realises they made a mistake and decides to correct it, there is nothing wrong with that,” the minister stated.
Support for Tinubu’s Re-election
Wike added that the reconciliation would unite political stakeholders in Rivers State and strengthen support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
He expressed confidence that the renewed alliance would enable political actors in the state to work together in the interest of Rivers State and the APC-led administration.
