Nigerian music icon 2Baba has condemned the continued killings in Benue State and called for collective action to end attacks on communities in Otukpo.
Nigerian music star Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has condemned the continued killings in Benue State, describing attacks on communities in Otukpo Local Government Area as unacceptable.
The Benue-born musician made the remarks during a visit to Otukpo-Nobi, one of the communities affected by recent violence.
2Baba Visits Victims
During his visit, 2Baba sympathised with victims and their families and called on stakeholders to work together to find a lasting solution to the violence.
He said the situation had become increasingly difficult to ignore and urged collective action to address the insecurity.
“Benue is home. When home hurts, we all feel it,” the singer said in a message shared during the visit.
Recent Attacks Raise Concern
The visit followed deadly attacks in the Otukpo-Nobi area.
According to Punch, an earlier attack in the community on July 12 left at least 10 people dead and several others injured. Reuters separately reported a deadly July attack in the Otukpo-Nobi area, although accounts differed over the precise death toll.
The violence has renewed concerns over the security situation in Benue, where communities have repeatedly faced attacks and displacement.
Calls for Collective Action
2Baba said addressing the insecurity requires more than the intervention of one person or institution.
He called for stakeholders, government authorities and community leaders to work together to develop a sustainable solution.
The singer’s intervention adds his voice to growing public concern over attacks affecting communities across Benue State.
