The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has renewed its mobilisation drive for the 2027 general election, with party stakeholders pledging to work towards securing one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The commitment was made at an expanded APC stakeholders’ meeting held to review the outcome of the 2026 Osun governorship election and determine the party’s next political steps ahead of the 2027 elections.
The stakeholders also reaffirmed their confidence in former Osun State Governor and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, as a key figure in the party’s leadership structure in the state.
The one-million-vote target comes shortly after the APC suffered defeat in the Osun governorship election, where its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, finished behind incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Oyebamiji has since congratulated Adeleke and urged APC members to put the defeat behind them, strengthen the party and begin preparations for the 2027 elections.
At the stakeholders’ meeting, party members said the recent electoral setback should serve as an opportunity for reconciliation and organisational rebuilding rather than a reason for the party to lose momentum.
Oyebamiji called on APC members and leaders to close ranks, resolve internal differences and strengthen the party’s grassroots structures.
The renewed mobilisation effort is focused not only on the presidential election but also on building a stronger electoral structure capable of delivering victories for APC candidates across the state.
The one-million-vote target is not new to the Osun APC. Earlier in 2026, party officials had also announced plans to mobilise at least one million votes for Tinubu, citing the state’s large voter population and the need to improve voter participation.
The latest pledge therefore represents a renewed effort to achieve the target despite the party’s recent governorship defeat.
With the 2027 presidential election approaching, the APC is expected to intensify grassroots mobilisation, reconciliation efforts and voter engagement across Osun State.
The party’s immediate challenge will be translating the new target into a workable political structure, particularly after the internal disagreements and electoral setback exposed during the governorship contest.
