The All Progressives Congress (APC) says it is on course to meet the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deadline for submitting its presidential and National Assembly candidates for the 2027 general elections, with the details of President Bola Tinubu and his running mate expected to be uploaded this week.
The APC has expressed confidence that it will beat INEC’s July 11 deadline for the submission of presidential and National Assembly candidates, saying preparations are at an advanced stage.
A senior member of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) disclosed that the party has already uploaded the details of several National Assembly candidates and expects President Bola Tinubu’s nomination documents, together with those of his running mate, to be submitted before the middle of the week.
According to the party official, the APC’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) team has maintained uninterrupted access to the INEC nomination portal as the upload process continues.
The source said the particulars of most principal officers of the 10th National Assembly and several serving lawmakers have already been uploaded.
The APC has also submitted the nomination details of several serving governors seeking Senate seats, including AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, Hope Uzodimma of Imo State and Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.
The ongoing submission follows a review of the APC’s primary elections after the National Working Committee considered recommendations from the party’s Primary Election Appeal Committee.
The party revised parts of its candidates’ list by replacing some senatorial and House of Representatives nominees following petitions arising from the primaries.
APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka confirmed that the party received more than 700 petitions from aggrieved aspirants after the conclusion of the primaries, saying the immediate priority is ensuring all designated candidates complete the required Form EC9 documentation before INEC’s deadline.
Party officials insist the APC remains fully committed to complying with the electoral timetable issued by INEC and completing all uploads before the July 11 deadline.
While President Tinubu has yet to publicly announce his running mate, party sources maintain that the nomination process is progressing smoothly and will be concluded within the stipulated timeframe.
With the submission deadline only days away, political parties are racing to complete their nominations as preparations for the 2027 general elections intensify. The APC says it remains confident of meeting all regulatory requirements while finalising its presidential ticket ahead of INEC’s closing date.
