Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has taken a swipe at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s presidential ambition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), using a “cheap product from Temu” analogy to question the opposition camp’s political strategy.
Lawal made the remarks in a Facebook post titled “Kachalla Series Three,” where he also raised questions about the handling of the ADC governorship primary in Adamawa State.
The former SGF reportedly alleged that the candidate who emerged from the party’s governorship primary was later substituted, an allegation that adds to the political debate surrounding the ADC as opposition figures position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Lawal’s comments also appeared aimed at Atiku’s decision to pursue another presidential bid through the ADC, following his departure from the Peoples Democratic Party and his broader efforts to build an opposition coalition ahead of 2027.
The “Temu” reference was used by Lawal to mock what he portrayed as the quality or credibility of the political arrangement surrounding Atiku’s latest presidential ambition.
Atiku, a former vice president and perennial presidential contender, remains one of the prominent figures in Nigeria’s opposition politics as parties and political blocs begin preparations for the 2027 elections.
