Labour Party factional chairman Julius Abure says NDC should learn from the internal crisis that followed the 2023 elections.
Factional National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure, has advised Seriake Dickson to be cautious in his alliance with Peter Obi and his supporters.
In a statement personally signed on Monday, Abure said Dickson appeared to have learnt lessons from the crisis that engulfed the Labour Party after the 2023 elections.
Abure alleged that Obi, alongside Alex Otti and several supporters who secured electoral victories on the platform of the Labour Party, later turned against the party leadership.
According to the statement, Abure described it as “dangerous” for the leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to hand over elective positions entirely to Obi’s supporters.
He stated that members elected under the LP platform eventually aligned with Obi after the elections, despite what he described as sacrifices made by the party leadership during the political process.
The remarks come amid ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections and continued discussions surrounding opposition coalition efforts.
The Labour Party leadership crisis remains one of the dominant internal disputes that has shaped the party’s post-2023 political direction.
