The House of Representatives has summoned top security officials amid growing concerns over rising attacks and insecurity nationwide.

The House of Representatives has summoned National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, alongside the nation’s service chiefs over the worsening security situation across Nigeria.

The resolution was reached during plenary following deliberations by lawmakers on the increasing wave of insecurity affecting several parts of the country.

The lawmakers directed the security chiefs to appear before the House and provide explanations on the current security situation as well as ongoing efforts aimed at addressing the threats confronting communities across the country.

Reports indicate that the summons also extended to other top officials connected to Nigeria’s security architecture and defence coordination.

The development reflects renewed legislative scrutiny over the country’s security challenges, particularly as attacks, kidnappings and violent incidents continue to affect several states.

The House is expected to receive briefings from the officials in the coming days regarding operational strategies and measures being implemented to tackle insecurity nationwide.
