Aliko Dangote has climbed to 36th place on the global billionaire rankings after his estimated fortune surged to $51.3 billion, according to Forbes’ real-time index.
Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has risen sharply on the global wealth rankings, with his fortune reaching an estimated $51.3 billion.
The latest valuation places the Nigerian industrialist at No. 36 among the world’s richest people, according to Forbes’ real-time billionaire index.
Dangote’s wealth has increased by about $20 billion following the revaluation of his holdings in Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals.
The surge has coincided with major developments surrounding the refinery, including a $2.5 billion private placement and the launch of a landmark public share offering.
Forbes reported that the private placement significantly increased the valuation of Dangote’s refinery stake, contributing to the sharp rise in his estimated wealth.
The development has propelled Dangote into the top 40 wealthiest people globally, a significant jump from his previous position.
His fortune remains heavily tied to the Dangote Group, one of Africa’s largest industrial conglomerates, with interests spanning cement, sugar, salt and petroleum.
The refinery has increasingly become the centrepiece of Dangote’s industrial expansion, with the company planning further investments to increase its processing capacity.
The wealth surge also illustrates the impact that changes in the valuation of major private assets can have on billionaire rankings.
