The former Peter Obi mobilisation organiser will lead the Tinubu Must Stay Movement’s alliance with the Directorate of Mobilisation and Integration ahead of the 2027 elections.

Marcel Ngogbehei, a pioneer organiser of the Obidient Movement and former chairman of the Coalition for Peter Obi (CPO), has been appointed Director-General of the Tinubu Must Stay Movement’s alliance with the Directorate of Mobilisation and Integration (DMI).

The appointment was announced on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, by Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, chairman of the movement’s Board of Trustees and convener, as political mobilisation intensifies ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Abdullahi, who also serves as director-general of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and deputy director of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, said Ngogbehei’s experience and grassroots mobilisation skills made him suitable for the role.

He cited a relationship spanning more than 25 years and said he had worked with Ngogbehei on several projects.

A new political alliance

The appointment follows the alliance between the Tinubu Must Stay Movement and the DMI, an organisation led by Ngogbehei that previously participated in mobilisation efforts associated with Peter Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign.

The partnership was agreed upon in London and subsequently ratified by the leadership of both organisations, according to reports.

The groups say their collaboration will focus on political mobilisation, public engagement and discussions about the Federal Government’s policy direction.

The alliance also signals a change in political alignment for an organiser previously associated with the movement that supported Obi’s presidential bid.

Mobilisation ahead of 2027

Ngogbehei’s new role places him at the centre of efforts to expand the Tinubu Must Stay Movement’s organisational reach before the next general election.

The movement’s leadership has emphasised the importance of grassroots organisation and explaining the administration’s policies to voters.

The appointment reflects the fluid political alliances emerging as parties and support groups begin positioning themselves for the 2027 contest.

Ngogbehei’s ability to translate his mobilisation experience into support for Tinubu’s re-election bid will become clearer as the campaign progresses.
