Former Ekiti governor says he suspects political motives may have influenced the handling of the school abduction incident in Oyo State.

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has alleged that the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State may have been orchestrated to embarrass President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Fayose made the claim during a televised interview, where he questioned the response of the Oyo State Government to the incident and suggested that political considerations could have influenced how it was handled.

According to him, state governments bear significant responsibility for addressing local security challenges and should not immediately shift attention to the Federal Government when such incidents occur.

The former governor specifically questioned the actions of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde in the aftermath of the abduction, arguing that the state’s response raised concerns.

Fayose stated that he believed the incident may have been positioned to blackmail President Tinubu, while acknowledging that he could be wrong in his assessment.

As of the time the reports were published, neither Governor Makinde nor the Oyo State Government had publicly responded to the allegation.
