Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has dismissed viral social media posters claiming he has defected to the New Democratic Congress (NDC), describing them as false, malicious and politically motivated while reaffirming his loyalty to the ruling party.
Former Kano State Governor and immediate past APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje has debunked reports suggesting that he has dumped the APC for the New Democratic Congress (NDC). Reacting to viral campaign posters circulating online, Ganduje said the claims were fabricated and designed to mislead the public and create unnecessary political speculation ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement issued by his former Commissioner for Information and Chief of Staff, Muhammad Garba, Ganduje described the posters as a deliberate campaign of misinformation.
According to the statement, Ganduje has never contemplated leaving the APC and remains fully committed to the party and the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
The statement further argued that it was “illogical” to suggest that Ganduje would abandon the political party he once led as National Chairman, insisting that he remains dedicated to strengthening the APC ahead of future elections.
The clarification comes amid heightened political realignments and speculation ahead of the 2027 general elections, with several opposition parties seeking alliances and prominent politicians facing recurring rumours of defection.
The viral posters had claimed Ganduje was joining the NDC, but his camp insisted the materials were fake and intended to sow confusion among APC members and the general public.
Ganduje warned that those responsible for producing and circulating the fake posters had been identified and could face legal action if they failed to withdraw the materials immediately.
He also urged Nigerians to disregard unofficial reports and rely only on verified statements issued through his office or the appropriate organs of the APC regarding his political activities.
Ganduje’s denial puts to rest the latest round of defection rumours surrounding the former APC chairman. While political realignments continue ahead of the 2027 elections, he insists his allegiance to the APC remains unwavering and that he will continue supporting the party’s activities and President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
