The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Auwalu Mahmuda, has commended troops of 12 Brigade for their operational successes, including the rescue of 21 abducted persons in Kogi State.
Mahmuda gave the commendation during his maiden operational tour of formations and units under the division between September 2 and 4, 2026.
Troops Praised For Rescue Operation
The GOC visited 12 Brigade at Chari Maigumeri Barracks in Lokoja as part of his assessment of ongoing security operations.
The visit provided an opportunity for the Army commander to review the brigade’s activities and assess its readiness in tackling security threats within its area of responsibility.
The rescue of 21 abducted persons was highlighted among the brigade’s recent operational achievements.
Continued Operations In Kogi
The Nigerian Army has continued to conduct operations against criminal groups and other security threats across parts of the country.

The Army said the operational tour was part of efforts to strengthen command oversight and improve the effectiveness of formations under 2 Division.
