Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has assured President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that the state will deliver 620,000 votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election—more than double the votes the party secured in the state during the 2023 poll. The pledge came amid renewed efforts to strengthen party unity in Benue.

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has expressed confidence that the APC will significantly improve its electoral performance in the 2027 presidential election, promising President Bola Tinubu no fewer than 620,000 votes from the state.

The governor made the commitment against the backdrop of ongoing reconciliation efforts within the Benue APC and discussions aimed at resolving internal disagreements ahead of the next general election.

Governor Alia said the APC has strengthened its grassroots structures across Benue and is working to consolidate support ahead of 2027.

According to him, the target of 620,000 votes represents a substantial increase from the party’s performance during the 2023 presidential election.

He expressed confidence that improved party cohesion, ongoing engagement with stakeholders and continued government projects would position the APC for a stronger outing when Nigerians return to the polls.

The governor’s remarks come as political activities intensify across the country following the conclusion of party primaries and ongoing efforts by political parties to resolve internal disputes before the election season gathers full momentum.

Benue has remained one of the key political battlegrounds in the North-Central region, with recent disagreements within the APC prompting intervention from the Presidency through meetings involving major stakeholders, including Governor Alia, former Governor Gabriel Suswam and allies of Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume.

Governor Alia reiterated his commitment to mobilising support for President Tinubu and APC candidates across Benue State.

He also urged party members to remain united and focus on strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 elections, stressing that internal reconciliation remains essential to achieving the party’s electoral objectives.

The pledge adds another dimension to the growing political conversations ahead of the 2027 elections, with Benue expected to remain a strategic state for the APC. Political observers will be watching closely to see whether ongoing reconciliation efforts translate into the level of electoral support projected by Governor Alia.
