Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has declared that the state has effectively become “a one-party state,” insisting that residents have already resolved to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 presidential election. The governor attributed the support to what he described as the positive impact of Tinubu’s policies and ongoing infrastructure development.
Governor Hope Uzodimma has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure overwhelming support from Imo State in the 2027 presidential election, declaring that the South-East state has become an “unapologetic one-party state.”
The governor made the remarks while hosting members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Media Team in Owerri during an inspection tour of state and federal government projects.
Speaking during the event, Uzodimma said Imo residents had already made up their minds about the 2027 election.
According to him, the state’s support for President Tinubu is rooted in what he considers the administration’s performance, particularly the increased allocation of resources to states and ongoing development projects.
“Our people have already decided that they want President Tinubu back as president,” the governor said while praising the administration’s economic and infrastructure policies.
Uzodimma went further by describing Imo as a “one-party state,” arguing that the dominance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) reflects the political choices made by residents.
The governor, who also serves as Chairman of the APC Progressive Governors Forum and National Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, said the party’s growing acceptance in the state is tied to its development agenda.
The governor maintained that President Tinubu has earned the right to seek another term in office based on what he described as measurable achievements.
He pointed to federal road projects, increased revenue available to states following fiscal reforms and other initiatives, arguing that they have positively impacted governance and development across the country.
Uzodimma’s comments come as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.
While the APC continues to rally support for President Tinubu’s second-term bid, opposition parties have vowed to challenge the ruling party at the polls, making the race one of the most anticipated political contests in recent years.
With campaign activities gradually gaining momentum ahead of 2027, Uzodimma’s declaration reinforces the APC’s confidence in retaining political dominance in Imo State. Whether the governor’s prediction reflects the eventual outcome will ultimately be decided by voters when Nigerians head to the polls.
