Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has said he could reset Nigeria within four years if elected president in the 2027 general election, outlining proposals focused on security, education and economic transformation.
Makinde, who is the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), made the declaration on Monday at the party’s North-Central Town Hall Meeting in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
He said his proposed administration would pursue a new security architecture, reform the education system and build an economy guided by data, science and logic.
A Four-Year National Reset
Makinde presented the proposed four-year reset as a framework for addressing Nigeria’s structural challenges and improving the performance of public institutions.
His remarks come as political parties and prospective candidates begin setting out their policy positions ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The governor’s proposal places security, human capital development and economic management among the principal areas requiring intervention.
However, the declaration remains a campaign promise. Its practical implications will depend on the specific policies adopted, the resources available and the ability of the administration to implement them.
Security Architecture
Makinde identified security as one of the central pillars of his proposed national programme.
