Manchester City have completed the signing of 16-year-old midfielder Mishel Nduka from Arsenal, adding another highly rated young player to their academy system.
Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on Thursday that Nduka had signed his contract with Manchester City after leaving Arsenal.
The midfielder joins City on scholarship terms.
The move represents another notable academy switch involving two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs and comes after Arsenal attempted to retain the teenager.
FROM CHARLTON TO ARSENAL — AND NOW CITY
Nduka joined Arsenal from Charlton Athletic and progressed rapidly through the Gunners’ youth system.
During his time at Arsenal, he made 10 appearances for the club’s Under-18 side and also stepped up to the Under-21 level.
His performances earned him recognition with England’s Under-16 setup.
England Football previously listed Nduka among the national Under-16 squad, confirming his involvement at international youth level.
Reports in July indicated that Arsenal had offered the teenager a new scholarship arrangement but that he had chosen to continue his development elsewhere.
Manchester City subsequently reached an agreement to bring him into their academy.
CITY CONTINUE TO INVEST IN YOUNG TALENT
The signing underlines Manchester City’s continued focus on recruiting promising young players before they reach senior football.
Nduka is not joining City’s first team and remains a developing academy player. His immediate pathway will therefore involve youth football and continued progression through the club’s age-group system.
For Arsenal, the departure represents the loss of a player the club had identified as a promising prospect, although Nduka never made a senior appearance for Mikel Arteta’s first team.
His move also demonstrates the increasingly competitive nature of academy recruitment in English football, with leading clubs competing aggressively for teenagers considered capable of developing into senior professionals.
For Nduka, the next challenge will be converting his potential into consistent performances within Manchester City’s highly competitive academy structure.
