The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal, reporting that 84.70 per cent of candidates obtained five credits and above, irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.
Registrar and Chief Executive of NECO, Professor Dantani Wushishi, announced the results on Thursday at the council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.
The examination results provide an overview of student performance in the 2026 internal SSCE and are relevant to candidates pursuing further education and other post-secondary opportunities.
Two Measures of Academic Performance
The reported 84.70 per cent figure covers candidates who achieved five credits and above without requiring English Language and Mathematics to be included among the credits.
A separate performance measure records candidates who obtained five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics.
The distinction is significant because the two measures reflect different academic thresholds. The broader figure should not be interpreted as equivalent to the percentage that achieved the five-credit requirement with both subjects included.
Examination Outcomes and Students’ Next Steps
The release of the results is an important stage for candidates awaiting admission opportunities, further examinations and other educational decisions.
