A new era has begun at the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) as Professor Segun Aina officially assumed office as Registrar, promising to preserve the institution’s credibility and strengthen its fight against examination malpractice following the exit of Professor Is-haq Oloyede after a decade of sweeping reforms.
Aina, who took over during a handover ceremony at JAMB’s headquarters in Abuja, said his administration would build on the reforms introduced under Oloyede while leveraging technology and stronger partnerships to protect the integrity of Nigeria’s admissions system.
Aina Promises to Protect JAMB’s Credibility
In his inaugural address, Aina vowed to uphold the integrity of JAMB and intensify efforts against examination malpractice through greater investment in technology and closer collaboration with security agencies.
He also pledged to improve service delivery for candidates and parents while encouraging innovation within the Board.
Oloyede Bows Out After Transformative Decade
Outgoing Registrar Professor Is-haq Oloyede reflected on his 10-year tenure, highlighting reforms that introduced biometric verification, CCTV surveillance, digital monitoring, electronic payments and greater transparency in JAMB’s operations.
He said discipline, technology and accountability helped transform the examination body into one of Nigeria’s most transparent public institutions.
Stakeholders Urged to Sustain Reforms
Aina called on universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, regulatory agencies and other stakeholders to work together in sustaining public confidence in Nigeria’s admission process.
He assured Nigerians that JAMB would continue to evolve without compromising fairness, transparency and institutional excellence.
