The Nigerian Army has immortalised its late former Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, by naming a newly completed complex at the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM) in Lagos after him. Army authorities said the gesture recognises his contributions to force development, military professionalism and operational excellence.
The Nigerian Army has paid tribute to one of its most respected former commanders by naming a newly commissioned training and administrative complex after the late Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.
The facility, unveiled at the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM) in Lagos, is intended to strengthen logistics training, administrative efficiency and personnel welfare within the Army.
The complex was commissioned by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, who described the project as part of the Army’s broader effort to modernise its institutions and improve operational readiness.
According to the Army, the new facility will provide a more conducive environment for training logistics professionals responsible for supporting military operations across the country.
Speaking during the ceremony, Shaibu described the late Lagbaja as an exceptional military leader whose professionalism, integrity and commitment to national service continue to inspire officers and soldiers.
He said naming the complex after the former Army Chief reflects the institution’s appreciation for his immense contributions to leadership, force development and operational effectiveness.
The Army Chief encouraged officers, instructors and students of NACOLM to emulate the values that defined Lagbaja’s military career.
He stressed that discipline, professionalism, integrity and dedication remain essential to building a more adaptive, combat-ready and resilient Nigerian Army capable of responding to evolving security challenges.
Shaibu reiterated that investment in military infrastructure, professional education and personnel welfare remains central to his command philosophy.
He noted that strengthening institutions such as NACOLM is critical to improving logistics planning and operational support, which are key pillars of successful military operations.
Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, who served as Nigeria’s 23rd Chief of Army Staff, is widely remembered for his leadership during a challenging period of military operations against insurgency and other security threats. The naming of the NACOLM complex ensures that his contributions remain a lasting part of the Nigerian Army’s institutional history.
