Nollywood actor Saidi Balogun has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima will complete eight years in office.

Balogun made the declaration in a video that has been circulating on social media from an event held to celebrate Shettima’s 60th birthday.

The actor’s comment comes as Nigeria’s political atmosphere increasingly shifts towards the 2027 general elections, with supporters of the Tinubu administration already campaigning for the President’s re-election.

Balogun Backs Tinubu-Shettima

In the video, Balogun expressed certainty about the political future of the Tinubu-Shettima ticket, declaring that nothing would stop the duo from completing their eight-year tenure.

His statement amounts to an expression of political confidence rather than an electoral guarantee, as the 2027 presidential election will ultimately be decided by Nigerian voters.

The actor joins a growing number of public figures who have publicly expressed support for the President ahead of the next election.

2027 Political Contest Intensifies

Tinubu emerged victorious in the 2023 presidential election and began his first term in May 2023.

The President is expected to seek another four-year term in 2027, while opposition parties are working to present a candidate capable of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress.

The opposition landscape has undergone significant changes since the 2023 election, with several political figures exploring alliances ahead of the next presidential contest.

Balogun’s comments therefore come at a time when political endorsements and public declarations of support are becoming increasingly prominent.

Shettima Celebrates 60th Birthday

The remarks were made in connection with celebrations surrounding Vice President Shettima’s 60th birthday.

The Vice President, who became Tinubu’s running mate in the 2023 presidential election, has remained a central figure in the administration.

Supporters of the administration have continued to highlight the Tinubu-Shettima partnership while making the case for continuity beyond the first term.

For now, Balogun’s statement remains a political endorsement and prediction about the outcome of the 2027 election.
