The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has rejected the outcome of the 2026 governorship election won by Governor Ademola Adeleke, saying the party is reviewing the results before deciding its next course of action.
The party said it is studying the results recorded across the state’s 332 wards and consulting its legal team over the election.
APC spokesperson Kola Olabisi said the party would explore available constitutional and legal avenues before determining its next step.
The position comes after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke of the Accord Party winner of the August 15 governorship election.
Adeleke secured 511,067 votes, while the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, finished second with 444,815 votes. ADC candidate Najeem Salaam came third with 17,180 votes.
The APC said the declaration by INEC does not necessarily mark the end of the electoral process, noting that Nigerian electoral law provides avenues through which parties can challenge election outcomes.
The party’s statement has therefore left open the possibility of an election petition challenging the result.
Adeleke, meanwhile, has been declared re-elected for a second term after the overnight collation of results in Osogbo.
The development means the political battle in Osun could continue beyond the ballot box if the APC ultimately proceeds with a legal challenge.
